A suspenseful, page-turning paranormal romance." -- KIRKUS REVIEWS
A college professor drowning in grief.
An Iraq war vet who barely survived.
Why do they have a nightmare in common?
University of Virginia professor Brodie Macbeth inherits a strange legacy from her father, including a library of British history books. Soon she's having nightmares stolen from the pages of her father's books, travelling through time and place in her sleep.
In every nightmare, people try to kill her, demanding a secret about her father that Brodie doesn't know.
Is grief provoking the dreams? Or something more sinister?
When Brodie falls for Joe Birnam, an Iraq War vet with his own demons, she's finally able to put the past behind her. But love turns to terror when Brodie realizes the nightmares are a real and deadly game.
The prize? Joe's immortal soul.
But Brodie doesn't know how to play, let alone win.
Would you?
From Virginia's most famous university to the Scottish highlands to a dusty road in Iraq, not even Shakespeare could have predicted the secret that will keep you up tonight.

Q&A WITH THE AUTHOR
Where did the unusual premise for AWAKENING MACBETH come from?
My grandmother said a mother should never wake a sleeping child too fast. The soul wanders while we sleep and needs time to return before we are fully awake. She came from a Catholic family yet told of events from her childhood that hinted of the supernatural.
I had always liked the old adage that the eyes are the windows of the soul and wondered how the eyes revealed a soul wandering in sleep. I took a trip to Edinburgh around the time I was mulling over what to write next. The city is full of inspiration; narrow alleys, dark corners, and architecture rooted in the past. How to merge the two sayings and add a dose of romance took shape as I walked the cobblestone streets.
What does AWAKENING MACBETH tell us about love?
Love and mystery are the perfect combo. Each needs a bit of the other in a book, just like in real life.
Romantic thrillers build a relationship, then test it. Can it hold up in a storm?
The more complicated the storm, the better.
In AWAKENING MACBETH, the premise is that when thwarted in love, the soul goes searching for answers. This wandering makes us vulnerable to the devil's relentless hunger to steal souls.
Is avoiding the risk of loving someone the only way to stay safe?
You'll have to read the book to find out.
What was the hardest part of writing this book?
The hardest thing was the concept of real evil being able to threaten the immortal soul. I hate movies like The Exorcist and had to stop writing several times, too shaken to go on.
But evil is out there and this is my interpretation of it.
