Hard Times for Arnie Smith

Things were bad enough for Arnie Smith in the panic of the 1890's but the lid was put on the whole mess when he inherited a godforsaken general store in East Texas. From his very first view of the place, his spirits sagged. The customers were darn near broke. His bookkeeper was ill-tempered...On top of all that, his store was looted the next day. And, finally, he couldn't keep the tears back when his best friend died saving Arnie's life when the store burned down. That was it--he'd sell what was left of the damned place ...But hope and inspiration returned when help arrived from an unexpected source, and a new store began to rise...
