Frosting Fatality
(2023)(Book 34 in the Raised and Glazed Cozy Mystery series)
A Novella by Emma Ainsley
Sometimes the best way to lock down something…
Is to set it free.
Dogwood Donuts owner and amateur sleuth, Maggie Mission, is excited to scope out the city-wide yard sale to find something special for her grandson.
Looking forward to a leisurely afternoon of browsing, she heads to the sale, bags in hand, and is astonished when she sees a loud tangle of women grappling for possession of a figurine held by the unfortunate woman who is in the middle of the kerfuffle. Threats fly as the figurine holder tries to protect the item.
Maggie’s initial astonishment turns to dismay when the woman holding the figurine drops dead, presumably of a heart attack. She’s skeptical that the death was from natural causes, but her husband, the sheriff, gently suggests that she just let it go.
He should know better.
The quickest way to get Maggie Mission to do some digging to prove something is to tell her that she can’t…or shouldn’t.
The closer that she gets to the truth, the more her sense of urgency regarding the case grows. Worried that she might become the next target, Maggie is in a race against the clock to crack the case and prove that some things are worth far more than silver or gold.
Can she get the killer under lock and key before they come looking for her?
