In stand-up comic Buster Hightower's 5th misadventure, he travels to Panama with girlfriend Carla Chance, owner of the Last Chance Insurance Agency. Carla is Panama City to attend a convention sponsored by one of her bottom-feeding companies, Apocalypse Auto and Home. Buster is to perform at the convention banquet.
Buster's former comic partner, CC (Blinko) Potts, happens to own a bar in the city. Further, Blinko's wife, June, is Buster's ex-wife. June was married to Buster before she ran off with Buster, so this is the second time around for her and Blinko.
Buster works up the courage to visit Blinko and becomes entangled in a far dicier mess than a love triangle.
Blinko possesses a diary written in 1940 Lisbon that alludes to 40 tons of Nazi gold that wound up in Panama City via Montreal. Blinko had taken the diary to settle a bar tab of an antique hippie, Harry Antonelli Junior. Harry Antonelli Senior authored the diary.
Other folks are in pursuit of the diary, including an oversized brute named Buford (Frog Prince) Poe. Harry Junior pays with his life when Poe catches up to him and demands it. Poe is employed by a criminal organization led by a petite woman and her grandmother.
The menagerie of characters also include Apocalypse's fugitive CEO, his New Age wife, Carla's worst enemy, and her pretty-boy son.
The chase is on for gold worth in excess of $1.5 billion!
Hang on for a wild ride as GOLD takes you through numerous twists and turns in pursuit of the prize!
Why is GOLD priced at $3.00 instead of $2.99 or $2.99.9. As Buster would say, "This is a novel. It ain't gasoline."
