In the wake Romes victories at the rivers Medway and Tamesis, Caratacus, the war leader who nearly broke the back of the Roman invasion, has fled west into the untamed mountains where Rome's legions dare not follow. There, among the fierce Silures tribe, he rebuilds his forces and plots his revenge.
With the legions stretched thin across newly conquered territories, Claudius turns once again to the Occultum with a mission as simple as it is impossible. Find and assassinate Caratacus.
For Seneca and his team, the hunt leads them deep into the forbidding mountains of western Britannia.
