The Case of The Missing Madonna

(2016)
(The second book in the Cannes Cozy Mystery series)
A novel by

Patrick Courvoisier, a former British intelligence officer, has left his troubled past behind and now lives on a houseboat, The Three Sisters, with his French Bulldog Oscar, in the Old Port of Cannes.
Known as Le Limier, or The Fixer, locals rely on Patrick to solve the problems they don’t want to go to the Police National about.
On the tiny island of St Honorat just off Cannes, the monks tend their grapes and make world famous wine, beloved of Britain’s Royal Family. In safekeeping in their vaults is Fragonard’s infamous painting of a sensuous Madonna, never to be put on display.
When the Madonna disappears, the Abbot enlists the help of Patrick (and Oscar) to locate the painting and secretly bring it home.
At the same time, an old enemy from Patrick’s past has arrived in Cannes to search for another stolen painting.
As it becomes clear that the two investigations are linked, Patrick uncovers a shocking secret the British Royal family would prefer to keep hidden.
