The Covenant

(1988)
A novel by

It began in a place beyond time and space, in obedience to The Covenant. It unleashed the forces of terror on the small Scottish village of Aragarr. The animals of the forest were consumed by a blood-lust; two teenagers mindlessly burned down buildings in the village; a farmer was brutally slain.
Into this simmering cauldron of horror came Al McBaith, an ex-Los Angeles cop who was looking up his roots in Aragarr. Ever since his decision to visit, McBaith had been plagued by a strange fear, an inexplicable sensation that he was going home, that everything was unfolding according to some unseen pattern, that he was caught up in something beyond his understanding.
As he became ensnared in the events that took place in Aragarr and began to unravel the mystery of the terror, he found himself on a cataclysmic collision course with the past, locked in battle with a terrible force whose aim was nothing less than the utter destruction of the village and all its inhabitants.
