The Story LOST CHILD was written in the early hours of a morning in a room in Cambridge, from persistant recall, in my subconscience, of a poem by Guru Nanak.

"We are all children lost in the world fair"

This memory brought back the panic I had felt when I had myself got lost, at the age of six, in a fair in Kaleshwar village, on the banks of the river Beas in Kangra valley of the Punjab Himalayas.

Since then this story has appeared in several school book anthologies in the Commonwealth.

I filmed the story with the help of Dolly Sahiar and Baldev Khosla, in Kaleshwar village fair in 1962, with five thousand people appearing in it, among whom a little girl called Chikoo, played the part of the lost child, with innocence that is rare in the film world.

The film won an award in Children s Film Festival in Prague in 1964.

The Lost Child with two stories The Eternal Why and The Conquerer.
