The Shadow Between

Sarah Vernon, pretty and spirited young daughter of a widowed farmer's wife, becomes governess to little Rebecca Granger, child of a cold, hard woman, who, with her daughter and two sons, has just taken possession of Hillside, a lonely Yorkshire farm. Sarah soon senses that there is some deep mystery surrounding this withdrawn, arrogant family. Why does the old servant hate her so? What is the reason for the strange behaviour of the gaunt mother and her sons? What is the shadow which stands between Sarah and the son with whom she falls in love?
