It wasn’t that Giorgio didn’t want to settle down, only that every women he’d met reminded him of his brother’s wives - in one way or another. He needed more than a ready smile and a swish of hair; more than a child before he was ready to be a father, and much more than a clingy, jealous witch who’d cause him grief!
He wasn’t scared of hard work, after all, he also had goals. Maybe not as grand as his brother Gianni. But he wanted to achieve his dreams too.
When the opportunity of a well-deserved holiday presented itself, he jumped at the chance. An opportunity to fix those goals in his mind and start working towards them. Giorgio had no plans to meet anyone; holiday romances were the worst. The thought of the glamour and romance wearing away once he’d returned home, was enough to put him off.
But the sight of her captured him, throwing all his plans up in the air. She was different in so many ways, least of all the most obvious. Giorgio couldn’t help gravitating to her, and his holiday turned into something he’d never guessed it could be.
Felix only went on the holiday as a chance to get away, to see something of the world. A chance to have options that working two jobs had never afforded her. Meeting the enigmatic Giorgio had been a bonus. They’d clicked almost from the minute they’d laid eyes on each other. He’d been patient, caring and understanding. Feelings she’d suppressed and never had a chance to explore, burst into existence.
But once back home, the chaos she lived in proved more than a challenge to the budding relationship. A chance to spend time with Giorgio, proved the catalyst that set her world spiralling out of orbit, and shattering the tentative relationship that had barely set flight.
Can heartbreak and betrayal be forgiven, when love and passion was your whole world? Those are questions that Giorgio will have to ask himself, if he’s ever going to find peace.
