***The books in the Time After Time Series can be read in any order***
He had been patient.
Too patient.
It was past time he laid his eternal burden down. Throughout human history there had never been a time closer to the one in which the curse had been borne. The world was still so far from what it had once been, but the forces of the universe were bringing the elements back into balance.
The ancestors would have their due. Ancient wrongs would be righted. The guilty would be punished. But first, two halves of one soul must be reunited. This time what was meant to be would not be stopped. This time love will find a way.
This time, he would have rest.
EXCERPT:
"I just need to get laid," Karima spoke to the empty room as if by saying the words, suddenly a date-able, or at least doable male would appear to make her forget the object of her annoyance.
"I would love to help you out, but saying so would be sexual harassment. Plus, you hate me."
No, no, no! It was too early for anyone else to be in. It was most certainly too early for the Greek demigod (because he wasn't that perfect, damn it) to be on the office. Aenas didn't stroll in until ten-ish unless there was an op. Why was he here on the one day she decided to make an appearance before the sun? It was just unfair! He was the very reason she left her bed two full hours before she'd intended.
"What, did you run out of local females?" she snapped without thinking. It wasn't like she cared where he spent his time, she just had to make it clear she wasn't interested in the town bicycle. Besides, he was disturbing her peace.
The last thing she'd expected to see as she whirled to face her nemesis was the look of sincere hurt on that perfect visage. Like, real hurt, not the fake, flirty kind. Even worse, Karima knew she had been a total bitch for no good reason. As much as the man got under her skin, he had never done anything to her. In fact, given the way she so obviously disliked him, he went out of his way to be extra nice, which was even more irritating. Now she felt like crap.
"You really hate me." He said it more as if he were talking out loud to confirm his own thoughts, which made Karima feel worse. Because yes, she hated him. "Why? What did I do?"
Telling him he was too pretty would sound ridiculous at the moment, but really it was all she had. That, and the fact he seemed like a genuinely nice guy despite having every advantage in the world growing up. Admitting she was resentful was also a no go. She decided to lie.
"I don't hate you." Surely, she wouldn't go to hell for one little white lie, would she? Okay, a big lie. "I am just sarcastic sometimes. I have a very dry sense of humor." She was definitely going to hell.
