After Phoebe Wilton’s days as a student at the Calloway Girls’ Academy ended, she knew she would not be welcomed home to live with her parents. In recent years, they kept their social and travel calendar busy to the point that they only managed to bring her home one month of the year. In spite of her parents’ wishes she join their social scene, she persuades them to allow her to attend the Territorial Normal School for Teachers in Edmond in New Ponca, Oklahoma Territory. She will still be able to visit her former school and with the people with whom she has developed deep friendships.

Increasingly, Phoebe wonders about her future. Is she destined to live out her life as a spinster schoolteacher? Or, can she someday hope for love and marriage with a man of her choosing? One thing she refuses to allow is for her parents to foist her off on a son of a family who will advance her father’s business interests and her mother’s social standing.

Graham, recent university graduate, starts a teller job at the branch office in New Ponca intent on learn the banking business from the ground up. There he meets Phoebe, a pretty girl, who will be gone a year training to become a schoolteacher. Will he still be in New Ponca when she returns?

This is my third book in the Christmas Quilt Brides multiple author series. If you have not already done so, you might wish to read MARIGOLD and BEULAH. Also, JOSHUA'S BRIDE in a different series introduces the reader to Marigold and her sister, Rose.
