Alex has worked as a park naturalist, she's hauled nets as a field technician and she's worked in labs with research interests ranging from invertebrate biology to meteorology. She has worked with animals as diverse as the unisexual jumping wabeen (a little Florida fish, probably now extinct), to stream invertebrates, to olive baboons.
After eight years as a writer, editor and media relations officer with the National Research Council of Canada she left for the joys of writing fiction and a tenuous freelance existence.
