Corrie Black, now Corrie Sutton, has settled into married life and making the Black Horse Inn as successful as her campground once was. But when Rick's mother, Cassandra, asks them to investigate the fiancé of her best friend, they find themselves in danger. Madeline Devereaux, Cassandra's dearest friend, is engaged to Andrew Buchanan, owner of a luxury resort in Cancun, after a whirlwind romance. Fearing that he might be trying to take advantage of a wealthy widow, Cassandra asks Corrie and Rick, along with J.D. Wilder and RaeLynn Shaffer, to come to Cancun. Soon they discover that not everyone is happy about the upcoming wedding and deaths begin to occur: a resort worker is stabbed, Andrew is shot to death in front of Madeline on the eve of their wedding, the concierge commits suicide and someone attacks a young housekeeper. Are all these deaths related? And who is the real target? The deeper Corrie and Rick and their friends dig into the background of the resort and its owners, the more they find that there is indeed trouble in paradise. But can they find the danger and stop the deaths before they all end up resting in peace?
