Ann Bloxwich

Ann Bloxwich  Is a lifelong fan of crime fiction, and started writing after attending my first ever crime writing festival in Harrogate. I'd wanted to write for a long time, but meeting so many wonderful authors gave me the push to do it. Having a disabled child myself, and having also worked at one time as a promoter for a bunch of male strippers, I figured that these things would make an interesting backdrop for a crime novel, and so DI Alex Peachey was born. Many of the things that Alex has to deal with are issues I've experienced myself - they say write what you know!Shortly after that festival I attended an excellent crime writing workshop called 'Crime & Publishment' in Gretna Green, run by author and hotelier Graham Smith. We've produced two anthologies, 'Happily Never After' and 'Wish You Weren't Here', the proceeds of which went to two different charities. The support I got from the people on this course prompted me to uproot the family and move from the West Midlands to Scotland. However, I decided to keep my books set in the West Midlands because I know it so well.As well as reading, I also love rock music, cats and tea. When I'm not writing, I can usually be found wherever there is a book festival.
