Mr. King's Seamstress

Clara has turned down a proposal of marriage. Marrying Ronald would take her out of the home for orphaned girls and give her stability. But she doesn’t love him, and she knows she never will.

Unwilling to sacrifice her dreams for mediocrity, she’s proud of her decision but worried about what her future holds. When a dashing stranger offers an escape, she grabs it without thinking. She doesn’t have the skill required to be a seamstress, but she’ll figure that part out later.

Clara’s new boss, Mr. King, seems nice and she’s thankful for that. But the secret she’s keeping is weighing heavy. When someone from her past shows up offering help, she has no choice but to agree to the scheme so her new employer won’t find out about her deceit. The trouble is, she’s set herself up to lose the last of her family legacy and a chance at love.

Every day that passes takes Clara deeper into a circle of lies. The consequences of telling the truth are now too great and she’s drowning in the mess she’s gotten caught up in.

Mr. King seems to favor her and she’s certainly falling for him. But none of that matters. He would banish her away and she’d lose everything if she told him the truth.
