This book celebrates the life of Denys Watkins-Pitchford - known as "BB" to four generations - who was a writer, illustrator and compiler of books about the English countryside for readers of all ages. This book contains many of his writings and celebrates a life devoted to recording the countryside in all its myriad forms. Based upon "BB"'s many writings, including material he wrote especially for this collection, and illustrated with many of his scraperboard drawings, the book also includes, for the first time, the text of his last novella, "Gone Away", which has never been published before. The book also draws on a number of "BB"'s articles - most of which are now unobtainable - as well as upon conversations and unpublished material.
