Sarah was religious enough to know her sins would find her out, but she never dreamed a bullet would make it happen.

It's Christmas morning and Clint Wolf is looking forward to spending it with his beautiful wife and wonderful children. However, fate has other plans, and when the phone rings bright and early, it's the dispatcher telling him there's been a murder. Bidding farewell to his family, he sets off to meet Officer Homer Verdin at the scene, unaware that this case would be like none he's ever worked.

While the seasoned detective has seen his share of extreme blood and gore, this case is not like any of those. A single gunshot has done the job, and the scene is fairly mild. What makes the difference is the confusing nature of some of the evidence at the scene, and he soon finds himself befuddled and in desperate need of some help.

Thankfully for Clint, his detective partner, Amy Rice, decides to come back to work early from maternity leave, and she jumps right into the case. As the day drags on and they struggle to find answers, Susan Wolf, Takecia Gayle, Melvin Saltzman, and Baylor Rice all leave the comfort of their homes to help bring about a resolution to the case. The extra brain power helps tremendously, but when they learn that one of their prime suspects has been kidnapped, the case is turned back on its head.

Despite the challenges, they plod on, unaware that someone in their work family will have to sacrifice greatly in order to solve the case...and that person might not make it out of Christmas Day.
