They didn’t come as visitors. They came here to stay—aliens! And what for? A very valuable commodity: us humans. My job is to drive them away.
I am Karr, a proud member of the Sioux tribe in South Dakota. At the age of 24, my life plan was to enjoy a comfortable existence as an IT specialist in a suburb of Rapid City, with a nice man and maybe children. But as fate would have it, I'm not just an ordinary person. I'm the chosen one, the protector of our home planet.
Why me? I'm not one of those Indian women who don’t know pain. I absolutely know what pain is and avoid it. My favourite pastime is
not crawling in the mud and feeling the impacts of laser pulses. No, I like to sit quietly on my couch, vanilla ice cream in hand, and let a love story wash over me on TV.
The drama began when the AI I had been working on developed a life of its own and escaped from our laboratory. You might ask how an AI can escape, well this one did it.
When shortly after that aliens appeared in our skies, everything was turned upside down. I was chosen as Earth's ambassador, and with the help of a mysterious partner, I flew to the alien spaceship to discuss peace. But we had a different plan up our sleeve: we wanted to hijack the alien flagship and use it to chase them away. It was a bold plan, and it went completely wrong! Our space capsule was destroyed, and we had to make an emergency landing on Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter, while the aliens conquered Earth.
Prepare for the incredible journey of Volume 8 of the Laim Saga, a science fiction series that seamlessly fuses the exhilarating elements of a space opera with the thrilling adventures of LitRPG. It's a masterpiece that stands out as one of the most remarkable space operas in the German-speaking world.
