The African Samurai (2023)
Craig Shreve
"Shreve tells an extraordinary story with dramatic intensity, sensitivity, and consummate imagination. Like all the best historical novels, it feels relevant and even essential to our present moment. Of the many admirable things about this novel, perhaps the greatest is Shreve's feat of breathing life into Yasuke, its central character, and rescuing this remarkable man from obscurity."

Black Dove (2022)
Colin McAdam
"If, like me, you read to have your mind blown and your heart stretched, then Colin McAdam's darkly magnificent Black Dove is for you. McAdam never writes a false sentence and is unflinching in his depiction of human cruelty, violence but also the most delicate and ennobling love. Black Dove is an extraordinary feat of imagination and of art."

Cyclorama (2022)
Adam Langer
"Fluidly written, formally inventive, by turns caustic and kind, tender and funny-Cyclorama offers up a kaleidoscopic array of characters who contend with timeless moral dilemmas and the present American moment. It's as smart and accomplished a novel as I've come across in recent years."
