The Judge's Territory

When Sam Gould first arrived in Conchas City, his abiding interest in its ailing newspaper forced him into conflict with a powerful local group, headed by a retired circuit judge, H. Dan Sherman. However, he worked off his early frustrations by doing an investigating job for the town lawyer, and when a former Pinkerton detective was murdered, Sam undertook a highly dangerous assignment for Judge Sherman. This took time, guts and a whole lot of risks, but Sam eventually won through.
