Private detective Richard Bland was contemplating a holiday when Major Dirk Gilson, his colleague in a World War II intelligence outfit, re-entered his life. Gilson had survived fiendish tortures at the hand of Kolonel Helmuth Wachter, a Gestapo officer, but now his time was running out. Bland took up the cold trail of Wachter in Berlin, where things started to happen. Then to Rio de Janeiro, where Wachter had supposedly died three years earlier. But Bland searched on...
