The School At the Chalet

'The School at the Chalet' was originally published in 1925, the first of 58 Chalet School stories published by Chambers over the period 1925 - 1970. 'The School at the Chalet' is one of a quartet of Chalet School stories published in new Chambers hardback editions in 1988, the others being 'Jo of the Chalet School', 'The Princess of the Chalet School' and 'The head Girl of the Chalet School'. This first ever story tells how Madge Bettany found a way of earning money and looking after her delicate younger sister, Joey by opening a school in the Austrian Alps. Her sister, Joey becomes the first pupil to be enrolled is destined to become the central figure in many Chalet School adventures.
