Freya Berry has always loved stories, but it took several years as a Reuters journalist for her to realise she prefers the kind of truth that lies in fiction, not reality...That said, the inspiration for The Dictator's Wife came while reporting on the 2016 US election.
She's fascinated by public perception and private fact; by ambiguity and the manipulation of truth; and by how our rational minds can so easily be overpowered by fear, and glamour.

The Book Swap (2024)
Tessa Bickers
"A soul-warming tale, perfectly balanced. I cried not once but several times. It's Sophie Kinsella meets Beth O'Leary via Emily James and I loved it . . . it deserves to be a smash."
The Library Thief (2024)
Kuchenga Shenjé
"Atmospheric and compelling. Victorian gothic with a fresh twist."
Death Flight (2024)
(Jonny Murphy Files, book 2)
Sarah Sultoon
"A litingly sharp, pacy thriller. Devilishly good."
