Ben and I

Ben and I is the story of a runaway high school dropout and the dog he finds roaming the streets with him. Together they observe the raw and colorful life of a big city, juxtaposed on the indifferent pursuits of the faculty and staff of a large metropolitan university. Other characters include regular denizens of the park where they spend most of their time, and the various animals who also inhabit it. Through it all the narrator, a would-be poet, remembers the alcoholic father who threw him out, his deceased mother, a timid younger brother, and the beautiful girlfriend he left behind, and never gives up the hope of returning to them.
