The Ghastly Murder at Goose Hall

(2022)
(The first book in the Very Particular Detective Agency series)
A novel by

When socialite Roberta Wilkinson is found dead, Miss Josephine York’s suspicions are immediately raised. Odd things have been happening at Goose Hall; things have been going missing, the wayward daughter has been thrown out of finishing school under mysterious circumstances, and the rakish Sir Oswald has turned up after being run out of London.

The doctor says it’s a case of murder when he arrives but by the time that he leaves, he’s changed his mind – someone’s got to him, too.

Josephine can’t stand by and let the deed go unpunished. Roberta was an old friend, after all.

Luckily she’s not alone in her fight. She has Sylvia Ford (a new friend), Sir Sam (a terrier masquerading as a lapdog) and of course, the one asset that every old maid needs in her life – her secret lover, Hockley.

But the murderer knows they are being investigated, and they will stop at nothing to prevent Josephine from getting any closer to the truth. She is more used to dealing with minor, private matters that the aristocracy want to keep under wraps.

This is the first time she’s handled a murder … will it (tragically) be her last?

The Ghastly Murder at Goose Hall is the first in a new series called A Very Particular Detective Agency, from the author of the popular series, The Discreet Investigations of Lord and Lady Calaway. Set on the cusp of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, this is a traditionally British classic murder mystery that is sure to delight all fans of upper-class amateur sleuths!
