The Santa Maria II is the world's newest, and largest, cruise ship - 1,200 feet long, and over a quarter of a million gross tons, she has been built to carry over seven thousand passengers across the Atlantic, following the original voyage of Christopher Columbus, from Spain to the Caribbean.
But during her maiden voyage, the unthinkable happens - the gigantic ship is taken hostage by a ruthless band of terrorists who will stop at nothing to achieve their horrific aims. A military response is certain to leave many innocents dead - and with a passenger list that includes movie stars, politicians, sports heroes and even royalty, it is quickly deemed to be too great a risk.
With national governments in chaos over how to deal with the incident, the owner of the cruise line reaches out to an old friend for help - John Lee, a former US Air Force Pararescue Jumper, a man trained to retrieve personnel from behind enemy lines, in the most inhospitable environments on earth.
