Maggie and Max
(2023)(The second book in the Cowboys of the Butterfly Ranch series)
A novel by Jennifer Beckstrand
A Sweet Cowboy Romance
He hates her guts. Shed rather shoot off her own foot than ask for help.
Maggie Murphy has been away from home too long, and her brother Charlie has made a mess of the familys ranch and the familys reputation. Max Welling, the cowboy who saves Maggie from a band of trail robbers, doesnt even know her, and he already hates her guts. When Charlie kidnaps three small children, Maggie realizes how deep her brothers treachery runs, and she vows to stop Charlie before more innocent people get hurt. But Maggie is just one woman, and Charlie has forty gunslinging cowboys at his command. Can Maggie swallow her pride long enough to ask Max Welling for help? Can Max let go of his hatred for the Murphys long enough to help Maggie right a horrible wrong? Will either of them be able to look past their differences and find space for love?
Jen is so good at creating characters that are distinctive and likeable and just fun to spend time with. I can recommend this book to anyone. Even if you don't like romances or westerns or clean-romance-westerns, this book is just fun to read. Make some peppermint tea, put a movie on for the kids, and slowly melt into the world or Rachel and Riley. Amazon review of Rachel and Riley
I laughed, cried, swooned, fumed, swooned again and everything in between! This book was delightful and delicious perfection!! 1 billion stars! Amazon review of Rachel and Riley
In Jessie and James, Beckstrand once again proves what a talented author she is and that she was made for writing westerns as well as her usual Amish fiction. Seamlessly weaving wit and emotion alongside a bit of adventure and meaningful insight, the author also introduces multi-dimensional characters that I hope we see again! Youll laugh and swoon, for sure, and you may even get a bit tearful as you devour Jessie and James from start to finish. Reading Is My Superpower blog review of Jessie and James
