Set during the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, "A Lost Lady of Old Years" is a tale of adventure and betrayal on the long and bloody road to Culloden Moor. It recounts the adventures of Francis Birkenshaw, a young man who grows up in Edinburgh rejecting all notions of honor and loyalty. For him the Jacobite Cause means nothing--until a chance meeting with Margaret Murray, the beautiful wife of Prince Charles Edward Stuart's secretary, presents him with the perfect opportunity to satisfy his craving for adventure and profit.

But this meeting turns out to be a fateful one for Francis--as it marks the beginning of his involvement with John Murray of Broughton, a man destined to become one of the most infamous characters in Scottish history, reviled forever after as a traitor and turncoat.
