In the spring of 2002, childhood friends Violet Monroe and Terran Ingram are headed home from their first year at college. It has been an eventful year: Terran became the new "queen" of the campus and Violet caught her boyfriend cheating on her and of course there was the bombing of the World Trade Center. The third wheel of their trio, Joey Fielding is waiting for them back home. The trio that has been inseparable since the age of twelve are about to embark on a summer that changes each of them and their friendship forever. This is not your normal coming of age story.
