Keller, your essential Urban Lonely Guy, started seeing a psychotherapist. The therapist had a dog. Then things got complicated, and there came a time when Keller no longer had a therapist, and the therapist no longer had a pulse.
And Keller had a dog.
But, duh, Keller's a hit man, for heaven's sake. Now and then his phone rings and sends him halfway across the country to change somebody's life, and rarely for the better. What's he supposed to do with the dog when he's on a job?
Obviously, he needs somebody who'll take Nelson for a walk. And feed him, and freshen the water in his water dish.
So he hires somebody. And if you think that's all there is to it, you haven't been paying attention...
"Dogs Walked, Plants Watered" first saw print as a story in Playboy, and went on to become a chapter in the first episodic Keller novel, Hit Man.
Genre: Mystery
