Jim Qwilleran, a newspaper columnist, visits Mooseville where a backpacker has recently disappeared. Qwill is determined to dispel the rumours that extraterrestrial beings may be responsible for the missing backpacker. Then Koko the Siamese cat leads Qwill to a dead body in the sand.
