Lord Berners wrote this spoof in 1935 in the style of a girl's boarding school drama, but in fact the characters are his circle of friends- Cecil Beaton, Peter Watson, Tchelitchew, David Herbert and Oliver Messel, among others. The incidents portrayed are drawn from various intrigues at Berners' home, Faringdon- here portrayed as Radcliff Hall. The original edition was reputedly destroyed by one or more of those portrayed and is one of the rarest of modern books.
