Because her husband, Roy, has defected to a Communist country, Gail Lawrence is dismissed from the laboratory where she has been working. Desperate, she goes to South America as assistant to Brett Saunders, concealing her identity and her past. Brett too has been a nuclear scientist but, disillusioned by the death of his wife, he has taken up medical research. Mutual attraction draws Gail and Brett together, but her secret comes between them, until the appearance of Roy brings matters to a head.
