Orphan Flower

(2014)
A novel by

A young girl witnesses a life-changing event that causes her to lose her memory. She is full of fear and melancholy as she frantically hurries from the scene, compelled by an urgent voice inside her head that repeats the warning to "get out of the woods".

She stumbles upon a young Amish woman, Judith, who invites the self-named "Daisy" to her home for supper. The family decide to keep the 'Outsider Daisy' in their care until she remembers her past or they find her identity in missing persons.

To some degree, Daisy settles into life on the farm, all the while knowing in her heart that she is not from these People. The sporadic flashes of her past, the nightmares and developing circumstances find her facing her biggest fears: The woods and the horror it holds for her.

Faith, courage and a strange luring in her soul, force Daisy to confront the object of her fears. When in the woods nearby, a bear mauls Judith's young man, Daisy is confused at the connection she feels. In the middle of the night she follows the call of something wild within her, intuitively knowing that she alone is meant to silence the fears of the community and Judith, her new friend.

Daisy and Judith discover their rightful places in the world, as family, faith and loyalties are explored in the conclusion of the plots.
