Jack never imagined running away could bring him so close to home…
After the untimely death of his brother, Jack Winters is forced to do ‘the right thing’ by Paul’s pregnant fiancé. Immediately after selling his soul in marriage, Jack marched off to war, and never looked back. Four years later, the war is over, but Jack’s resentment hasn’t faded. At this point he’d sooner fake his own death than return home.
Four years of silence spoke volumes in regard to Jack’s stance on their marriage. Forever grateful for the kindness he’s shown her, Rose has no desire to hold him in a marriage he doesn’t want. Unfortunately, there is no way to dissolve the union without causing great hurt and scandal for his family. When Rose learns that Jack intends to travel west, she convinces him to take her along so that they can quietly secure a divorce and start new separate lives.
Rose’s suggestion seems the perfect solution… but the rigorous trip to Texas proves to be a journey of the heart neither of them anticipated.
