In 1939, on the Utah-Wyoming border, enrollees at an FDR Civilian Conservation Corps camp avenge the brutal murder of a local girl. The killer has mob connections and the young men must take on East Coast mob hit men, defending themselves the same way they will soon defend the country in World War II. The young man taking the lead was born in the US and returned to his Carpathian homeland at age three. Able to resecure his American passport via the 14th Amendment, he escapes Nazi conscription, returns to the US, and joins the CCCs. His nemesis in camp is from a New York mob family with a plan.
