(The first book in the Game of Villains series)
A novel by

Grim and twisted, our fairytale is one of nightmares and carnage.

PRETENDER

To be kind and genuinely good is a longing that gnaws at my soul.

It’s a futile struggle.

No matter how much I pretend, it doesn’t change the truth.

Decay runs through my veins.
I’m ensnared by sorrow and incessantly glorify all that is detrimental to me.

Like him.
And him too.

MONSTER

Love is the ultimate deception, but this isn't that.

Or perhaps it is. I wouldn't have the faintest clue.

Obsession. Fixation. Mania.
These are the certainties that pulse within me.

Just as I'm certain she’ll despise us when she learns the truth, but her loathing is the sweetest indulgence.

It justifies every tear I’ll savor when she weeps.

VILLAIN

There’s a perverse allure in dismantling a soul, piece by piece, only to graft all the jagged shards onto your own being, letting their agony and chaos seep into your veins.

It's romantic too, for me at least.
I know that no matter what happens I'll carry them with me forever, even in death.

That's what I want from her.
It's all I need.

She’ll hate us for what we’re about to do.
But I'll make sure she needs us too.
