Sidney, a waitress at the local diner, needs money to go to college because she promised her mother on her deathbed that she'd go. Knowing she can't raise that kind of money on her own, she decides to become a surrogate for Steve and Audrey Taylor, who can't have children on their own.
When tragedy strikes, she is faced with agreeing to the conditions of the couple's Will. The only catch...she has to agree to raise the child with the Amish man who grew up living alongside Mr. Taylor. A man who also picked up a few of the English habits along the way that he's kept hidden...until now.
Jory Fisher was Steve's best friend growing up and was shocked at the news of Steve's death, but even more shocked when he learns that Steve has named him as the one to co-parent his child with a woman he's never met before. He knew that Steve was using a surrogate, but he knew very little about the woman. When they meet for the first time to go over the terms of the Will, Jory can't help but be drawn to her natural beauty. When he proposes a marriage of convenience to Sidney in the lawyer's office as a way to solve their problem of how to raise the child together, he's embarrassed by Sidney's immediate rejection.
