Working close to Halloween on the graveyard shift is scary. Especially when a large, dark man enters the convenience store and demands armloads of junk food, growling and eyes flashing blood-red like a holiday demon.
When his big, hairy hands reach for me, I run outside and straight into the arms of Officer Nick Renault. Somehow, just being in his arms, I feel safe.

She's a dream on a night made for nightmares. I've been chasing something strange all night. Something that's stayed one step ahead of me until I reached her store.
Now I have an eyewitness. But she needs medical attention which brings EMT Aidan Prentiss. The two of us can't stand each other but both of us want Sassy. Can we set aside old rivalries to give her everything she wants and desires.

Nick and I have years of school and work rivalries to work through. We've never been friends but Sassy could be that bridge. She needs both of us. She can't choose. Should she have to?
