Heart-stopping excitement and the roar of the engine are just a part of the fun of NASCAR stock car racing, and HarperHorizon is happy to capture the thrills of it in this brand-new NASCAR series. Young readers can experience what it's like to grow up around star drivers such as Jeff Gordon and Kyle Petty as they follow the track-side adventures of the orphaned Travis family. There's McKinley, "Kin", who at age 15 is the head of the family and set on becoming a driver. Laura, 12, has an almost supernatural talent for country music, and 8-year-old Larry, "Laptop", is a whiz with computers. Along with their rascally dog Scruffs, they are determined to stay with their curmudgeon grandfather Hotshoe Travis, ace race mechanic, whose job takes them all over the country. As they travel from track to track, the Travis kids find themselves in the middle of mystery and mayhem and the action doesn't stop till the final lap is finished.
