Archaeologist Kit Fry returns to Eagles Court, the stately home where her father worked and she spent a lot of time growing up to investigate a newly found hoard of Roman coins.
She’s excited because she grew up on the legend of the legionary who buried his treasure and sent his family to safety before dying bravely, and a strange mixture of excited and worried about seeing Alex Trevett again.

Once, they roamed the estate together and she fell in love with him. Once, on a golden, never forgotten night, he kissed her and told her he loved her. But he was gone in the morning, and only his father’s heart attack after his older brother and his wife died in a car crash has brought the now Lieutenant Colonel Trevett home to the now decaying estate.

Obviously, Honour’s not still in love with him, which is just as well when she realises that the find isn’t genuine and he’s her main suspect. Besides, he’s spending a lot of time with gorgeous blonde estate accountant Tanya Legge.

Yet something is still drawing them together, and, as the horde’s real owners start using threats and violence to get the coins back they have to work together to save the estate and themselves. Can the past be more than Buried Trouble? Do they want it to be?
