Nadine Jordan is determined to stop being a brat and become a Woman to be Reckoned with. That means someone competent, practical and most of all, kind. Her past hasn’t been ideal and she’s as surprised to find herself back in the little Dorset market town of Oldcastle as a lot of other people are to see her there. She’s also head over heels in love with Christmas Cottage, which she’s renovating with the help of builder Steve Grey.

Sadly, not everything in her world is rosy. She’s not sure what her relationship is with her former boyfriend Andrew Lawson, or what she wants it to be. Worse still, local businessman Simon Apsley wants to get her out of her job, which is to revitalise Oldcastle and encourage tourists and locals to see it as a place to be, not a place to drive to on the way to more popular attractions.

She wins when he pushes the committee to vote on whether she should lose her job, but that night her car is vandalised and Steve is offered cash to make sure Christmas Cottage is never finished. As winter and Apsley both turn nasty, can Nadine become a Woman to be Reckoned With and find not only her perfect home, but love and a place in the community?
