The Travelling Dead

Norfolk, September 1950. Mike Tench, recently promoted to Detective Chief Inspector, stood looking down at the girl's battered body. Who was she? Where was she from? Was she local, or had she been killed somewhere else and dumped from a car? Was she the first of what his old chief, John Lubbock, called 'the travelling dead'? Lubbock, now retired, was convinced there was a link with the chipping fields. But what on earth were they? To solve the case, Tench has to follow a twisting trail that leads him to a final confrontation as the murderer threatens to kill again.
