In the short story "The Zombie and the Chess Master," the chess master Leo Danziger claims a man attacked him and mutilated him in his condo's bedroom. His wife and doctor don't believe him, not to mention his psychiatrist and the police. In fact, nobody believes Leo, because, according to Leo, his assailant fell out of Leo's fifteenth-story condo and walked away. Besides his mutilated hand, Leo has a problem. How do you convince anybody of the truth when even you don't believe what you saw?
