Warlocks is the thirtieth Cyrus Skeen detective novel, set in San Francisco in mid-June 1928. Skeen has moved into his new office in the Humboldt Bank Building on Market Street - a vast improvement over his Howard Street office - and has settled into to his new working environment, with a new secretary, Dilys Jones.
A religious man comes to Skeen for help in finding his missing daughter, who vanished one Sunday after Bible studies weeks before. Skeen agrees to try and find the girl, and meets the pastor of the man's Pentecostalic church. The pastor is a strange man and Skeen has an instant dislike of him, and suspects that something horrific happened to the girl. In the course of his new investigation, he uncovers an unimaginable evil.
