Fiona hates the outside of things - skin, peel and crusts. She refuses to eat any of them. She doesn't care if her hair doesn't curl or her eyes sparkle. So when Olga comes to tea, Fiona is delighted. Olga loves eating the outsides. The only trouble is, she doesn't know when to stop. Gillian Cross won the Carbegie medal for "Wolf" and was runner-up for the same award with "A Map of Nowhere" and "The Great Elephant Chase", which also won the 1992 Whitbread Children's Novel Award and the Smarties Book Prize.
