1927. American humorist and newspaper columnist for The Saturday Evening Post and Cosmopolitan. He is best known for his Judge Priest stories. The story begins: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Next was created by Him the firmament and all. Then, after the lapse of several periods and ages-scientists and theologians disagreeing as to the approximate number and durations of these-He created Mr. Herbert Tendon; and then it might be said that the works of the Almighty, in so far as this small planet was concerned, had culminated in at least one thing finished and perfect.
