In what was once North America, Baitland maintains its hold on its 50 Compounds by forcing each to have their own bodies of government that have absolute control over who lives and who dies and when people are allowed to live and when people are allowed to die. Within this post-apocalyptic, dystopian saga, 25 percent of the world's population is made up of Lionhearts or people with strange and unique abilities that can range from being able to turn into an ice sculpture to being able to control time loops with one's mind. The rest of the world, of course, comprises of the humans. The head national government of Baitland, referred to as the Guardian, has set up a system where all Compound governments have the right to isolate and keep people in captivity and government officials are exempt from all laws. When born, each Lionheart is branded on a scale from 1 to 10 on the back of their neck, representing how harmful they are to their government, of course 10 being the worst and most harmful. Compound #21 Lionheart, Benjamin Tran, wants to get revenge on the Compound #21 government who calls themselves "The Supremacy." Benjamin, having lost everything, has little to rely on, other than his newly found ability, which makes him more peculiar than anyone can imagine, his sharp instincts, and his goal, in a secluded and guarded area where he must unite all Lionhearts and weigh survival, revenge, and liberation against love, allegiance, and safety.
