The Sophie Encounter
(2024)(The fourth book in the Black File Agents series)
A novel by Jeff Crawford
In this fourth installment of the Black File Agents Series, Agents Kirkland and Barlow are forced to confront that which cannot be possible.
Before the physical Black File is even in their hands, Agents Kirkland and Barlow are told of a case that they must delve into without delay. The potential ramifications are so large that nothing less than their immediate attention and absolute understanding of what has taken place will be acceptable. They are perhaps the only two people with the requisite qualifications to unravel what has taken place, but the fear looms large that even their skills and knowledge will not be enough this time.
In the small and quaint town of Two Ox, Oklahoma, where nothing out of the ordinary ever happens, the unimaginable has taken place. Reluctant to believe the story they have been told, the agents race to this picturesque little town to see for themselves if the impossible has not only become possible, but has become reality. What they are not prepared for, aside from the truth, are the changes that will envelop one of them just by being there.
A small gazebo in the center of town is where it all started, and like iron filings are drawn to a magnet, one of the agents will feel the continual pull to this structure, for an understanding greater than ever before is to be had in that simple structure, and it is all because Sophie has returned.
Life, though it was hard and sad, carried on when she went away, but now nothing will ever be the same, not now that she has come back. The Sophie Encounter will change everything and prove beyond doubt the need for the Black File program to exist.
Genre: Western
